Australian Football International (AFI) is pleased to announce that the inaugural Adelaide 9s will be held in 2027.
The venue is the Onkaparinga Rugby Union Football Club, Sports Park Drive, Morphett Vale.
The event will be played under the rules of Footy 9s. Please watch the video below to see how the game is played.
As with the World 9s and Darwin 9s, the Adelaide 9s forms part of our strategy to have Footy 9s included in the Olympic Games.

REGISTER YOUR TEAMEvent Format
- 12 national teams (representing Adelaide’s multicultural communities)
- 2 x Playing Fields
- 9-a-side (maximum of 15 players per squad)
- 3 x Divisions – Men’s, Women’s and Touch Footy
- Matches will commence every 40 minutes to facilitate a carnival type atmosphere
- Each match consists of 2 x 15 minute halves, plus 3 minutes for half-time
- Each team will play a minimum of 3 matches during the event
- Each team will play in their national colours
- 3 x Grand Finals – Men’s, Women’s & Touch Footy
