2028 AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL WORLD CUP – MELBOURNE

Australian Football International (AFI) is delighted to confirm that Melbourne is the Host City of the 2028 Australian Football World Cup.

The city’s eclectic architecture blends Victorian-era structures, such as the World Heritage–listed Royal Exhibition Building, with a large skyline. Landmarks include Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the National Gallery of Victoria.

Noted for its cultural heritage, the city gave rise to Australian Rules football and is known for its great coffee, street art and live music. Major annual sporting events include the Australian Grand Prix, Australian Open tennis and the AFL Grand Final. Melbourne was voted the world’s best city by Time Out in 2026.
