Australian Football International (AFI) is delighted to announce that the inaugural Australian Football World Cup will be held in Melbourne in August 2028.
Unlike other football codes – including Soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union and American Football – our great game has never held an official World Cup.
The Australian Football World Cup will be played during the AFL home and away season to allow participants to attend AFL matches and be in Australia during the AFL season.
The inaugural World Cup will capture the excitement of many stakeholders and will be a watershed moment in the history of our great game.

- Each team will play a minimum of 3 matches during the event
- Each team will play in their national colours
