I hereby commit to uphold the AFI Umpire Code of Conduct. I understand that as an integral component of my accreditation, I must maintain a standard of behaviour and conduct in the best interests of the game and the players in my care. In representing myself in an honest manner, and without bringing the umpiring profession or the game of Footy into disrepute, I will endeavour to do the following to the best of my ability:
1. Umpire in accordance with the Laws of the Game;
2. Ensure the game is played in a fair manner and a spirit of true sportsmanship;
3. Prioritise the health and safety of others to prevent injuries to players participating in the match as much as is practicable in a contact sport;
4. Not discuss any aspect of any report made in accordance with the rules or otherwise with any unauthorised person without the prior consent of my local League;
5. Not contrive or attempt to contrive the result of any Match or any aspect of the Match in exchange for any bribe, benefit or reward;
6. Carry out the required administration requirements of the game;
7. Maintain a working knowledge of the Laws of the Game;
8. Seek continual improvement through learning, appraisal and regular updating of competencies;
9. Treat all participants, as they would like to be treated;
10. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion;
11. Not engage in physical and/or verbal intimidation, abuse or conduct towards any player, coach, official or supporter;
12. Accept all match appointments in a positive manner;
13. Advise my local League as soon as practical should I be unable to officiate any match due to illness or injury;
14. Maintain a high reputation and not do any act or thing calculated to or which might otherwise have the effect of prejudicing the reputation of my local League, National Body or AFI;
15. Perform on my merits and officiate to the best of my ability at all times;
16. Adhere to relevant policies as developed by my local League, National Body and AFI.
Note: This Code of Conduct is to be signed and conformed to as part of the umpiring accreditation requirements of AFI.
