Expanding Footy 9s into Nepal is part of our plan to grow the game in Asia.

Footy 9s is played on rectangular fields, allowing the sport to be played on any soccer or rugby field.

There are 3 great formats to choose from – Men’s Footy, Women’s Footy and Touch Footy.

AUSTRALIA & NEPAL
Australia’s relations with Nepal continue to strengthen people-to-people links. Over 50,000 people born in Nepal now reside in Australia.

The number of private Nepalese students studying in Australia is increasing rapidly. In 2017, over 28,000 Nepali students studied in Australia. The Association of Australian Nepal Alumni is very active. There are also active Nepal-Australia Friendship societies in both countries.

The 2016 census recorded 62,806 people of Nepalese ancestry, with 54,754 people born in Nepal.

Nepal is a landlocked sovereign state located in South Asia. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by China, and to the south, east, and west by India. Kathmandu is the nation’s capital and the country’s largest city.

It is of roughly trapezoidal shape, 800 km long and 200 km wide.

The country has a rich geography. The mountainous north has 8 of the world’s 10 tallest mountains, including the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest, called Sagarmatha in Nepali. Seven other of the world’s eight thousand metre peaks are in Nepal or on its border with China: Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu.

The country contains more than 240 peaks over 6,000 m above sea level. With its ancient culture and the Himalayas as a backdrop, it has a flourishing tourism industry.
