The second edition of the Europe 9s will be held in Spain in October 2026.
Entry is open to all national Australian football teams based in Europe.
Teams competing in the Europe 9s will represent their country and play in their national colours.
Player Eligibility
Footy 9s is a game for all. Our aim is to be inclusive of as many people as possible.
To be eligible to represent your national team, players must meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. they have ancestry e.g. born in the country or has a parent or grandparent born in the country which he/she is representing; or
2. they can demonstrate a significant link to the country e.g. marriage or significant partner; or
3. they have played a full season of Footy in the country he/she is representing. Playing a full season demonstrates a clear commitment to the development of the sport in their country. This is in contrast with, for example, a backpacker who has been in the country for a few weeks, who will be ineligible.
