AFI Europe is pleased to announce that the European Griffins will be making their debut at the 2025 Europe 9s.
The tournament will be held in Barcelona on Saturday 4 October.
The Griffins will field teams in all 3 Divisions:
- Men’s Footy
- Women’s Footy
- Touch Footy
Why the Griffins?
The Griffin is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a Lion, and the head and wings of an Eagle.
Many countries in Europe feature either a Lion or Eagle in their coat of arms. The Lion is traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the Eagle the king of the birds, so the European Griffins is the perfect name for a combined European team!
