SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

Sport is also an important enabler of sustainable development. We recognize the growing contribution of sport to the realization of development and peace in its promotion oftolerance and respect and the contributions it makes to the empowerment of women and of young people, individuals and communities as well as to health, education and social inclusion objectives.

UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

AFI recognises that we and our members can play an important role in supporting the sustainable development agenda, through advocacy and action.

We can work to ensure that decisions we make now can have a positive impact for the future – on the environment, on communities, for individuals and for the game itself.

AFI has set out its objectives for sustainability in the AFI Sustainability Vision, a copy of which can be found below.

AFI Sustainability Vision
Australian Football International (AFI) has a clear objective to balance the social, economic and environmental impact of the sport of Australian Football.

AFI and its members are driven to support the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the IOC’s Sustainability Strategy and make a positive impact on a series of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Framework:

Principle 1 Undertake systematic efforts to promote greater environmental responsibility
